Is anyone at the moment NOT talking about ChatGPT (or equivalent) and AI? I don't want to focus on the AI here. I want to focus on attitude. Because it is our attitudes, responses and beliefs that will shape our future with AI.

I was involved in a conversation a few days ago where ChatGPT was being personified. And I was a little horrified. AI does not have any human qualities.

In fact, right now it is just an advanced search engine. One I'm quite grateful for. You see, when I type ANZAC Day into my search bar, i get a string of urls I then have to click into, read - hopefully what I am after - and keep searching through the 60,200,000 results my search engine came up with in approximately 0.52 seconds! Now I can search ChatGPT and put parameters on that search - like give me a 1,000 word summary - and that's what gets spat out!

AI is only as reliable as the information that has been inputted. It is as bias as the creator of that information. And as for the comment that was made over dinner at a gathering on the weekend, "I can't wait for it to do the vacuuming", well that's going to be a long, long wait. AI won't be able to do the vacuuming. Hopefully the robot will. You know, the one we will personify with 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 eyes, a nose and a mouth.

Depending on who you talk to and what you are reading, you can be falling down the fear hole on AI or waiting with anticipation to be freed up from the mundane.

Here's the thing. We really don't know what will happen and what AI and robots will be capable of. What we do know is that humans are the engines driving the change, the progress and the innovation. Is it a race to the top? Or to the bottom? We are in the drivers seat. If we have kind compassionate humans at the wheel, we will be fine.

The fears were similar when the car replaced the horse and cart, when the first newspaper was printed and when the capacity of the internet was realised. Yes, the future is advancing at an incredible speed. At the same time there is an exponential rise in mediation, mindfulness, yoga and connection.

Let's take a breath. Realise we are the creators and the curators. And create a future by our design.
